Ride For...?
A downloadable game
Based on the 2024 One-Page RPG game jam’s optional theme of ‘transport’, Ride For…? is a one page solo journaling RPG about being a rideshare driver engaged in a confusing conversation with a talkative passenger.
As a rideshare driver, your income is dependent on getting positive reviews. The game takes place over one ride from pickup to drop-off, where your goal is to get a good review. The driving is easy, conversing with your latest passenger, however, is proving to be a bit trickier. How do you guarantee a good review? Do you agree with everything they say, even if you're lying? What if they notice? Can you keep up as the conversation goes on?
You will need something to journal in, a pen or pencil, a d20, and a d6.
A game of Ride For…? can be whatever level of seriousness you would like. It could mimic hard real-world conversations with topics like politics and personal struggles, or your passenger could be a cat complaining about the quality of catnip at home. The setting could be our real modern-day world, another time period or place, or a different reality entirely. Anything works as long as you are a driver transporting a passenger with your income reliant on their positive review. Ride For…? is about review-based customer service work under capitalism, with tone being set based on individual player’s comfort levels.
So fasten your seatbelt (or grab the reins, or sit in the pilot’s seat of your space taxi) and prepare to navigate an awkward conversation like your paycheck depends on it, because it does.
Downloads include a printable version (formatting has stars you can fill in to track your review and car windows to draw yourself and your passenger in), and a text only version.
